Morecambe made it eight wins from eight against Burton Albion in the Conference as two late goals gave them a vital three points in their push to seal a play-off spot.

After Andy Ducros had fired Burton back into the game eight minutes from time to level Chris Blackburn's 40th minute opener the Shrimps hit back with a late double salvo.

Stuart Barlow sparked the surge with his fourth goal in three games when he headed home John Hardiker's left-wing cross three minutes from the end, before Garry Thompson sealed the points with a fine finish in the fourth minute of injury time with a sweet strike from Danny Carlton's lay-off.

The game itself saw few chances with both sides forced to try their luck from distance in the opening stages.

For Morecambe Wayne Curtis forced Saul Deeney into an early save with a shot from 25 yards before Jimmy Kelly flashed a volley well wide.

Thompson fired a shot over from the edge of the box before Burton pushed forward with Aaron Webster's close-range header beaten away by the Morecambe defence and Ducros fired well wide from distance.

The game came to life when Shrimps took the lead five minutes before the break with a rare goal from Blackburn.

Thompson delivered a fine inswinging corner from the left and Blackburn nipped in front of his marker to direct a strong header that flew into the top right hand corner despite the best efforts of Deeney.

The game came to life in the second half and came to an exciting end with three goals in the final eight minutes.

Burton thought they had secured a point when Ducros scored eight minutes from time when he followed up sharply after Steven Drench had saved Webster's penalty after Blackburn had fouled Christian Moore.

But Morecambe showed real mettle to hit back almost immediately and took the lead for the second time three minutes from time through Barlow, before Thompson sealed the points with a fine injury-time finish.
