Morecambe moved up to fourth in the Conference table with their fourth successive victory.
The Shrimps never found top gear but the result was everything for Jim Harvey's resurgent side who have given themselves a great chance of reaching this year's Conference play-offs.
The Shrimps dominated possession from the start and after Burton skipper Darren Stride made two vital interventions from Wayne Curtis the home side took the lead.
Top scorer Michael Twiss was once again the man on target when he took his tally to 22 for the season with his third successive penalty awarded after Barry Miller had brought down the always dangerous Danny Carlton.
Ten minutes later it was 2-0 as Carlton took advantage of some awful Burton defending. Jim Bentley's long clearance looked easy for Burton centre-half Ryan Austin. But as he hesitated and looked for keeper Dan Crane to come and collect Carlton nipped in to score a real poacher's goal.
Crane made amends with a good save from Twiss' sweet left-foot strike before Burton finally created a clear opening in the second minute of first-half injury time.
Morecambe keeper Ryan Robinson saved well from Andy Ducros' clever free-kick but the ball fell perfectly for Michael Briscoe who somehow failed to hit the target from just eight yards out.
That proved to be a rare Burton chance as the Shrimps continued to dominate possession without ever really threatening themselves in the second half. Twiss came close after a wonderful piece of skill on 62 minutes that saw him volley into the side-netting after a wonderful turn.
Robinson had to make one block from Chris Hall's left-footed strike but Morecambe signed off in style with Curtis scoring his second goal of the week. Garry Hunter teed him up after his original effort was blocked by Crane and Curtis made no mistake with a cool finish.
