Morecambe 3 Scarborough 1

Morecambe maintained their excellent run of form at home to take another three points towards their play-off promotion bid.

The Shrimps, for the fourth home game in succession, had to come from behind to take the points after Bimbo Fatokun had given the Seadogs the lead in the 46th minute.

After a poor first half, he sparked an excellent second period with a goal on the turn after a great run and cross from Cleveland Taylor was not cleared by a dithering Morecambe defence.

The home side then lifted their game considerably and were soon back on level-pegging when, on 57 minutes, the Scarborough defence failed to spot the obvious danger presented by giant centre-half Jim Bentley, and he headed into the bottom right-hand corner of Andy Woods' goal.

From there, Morecambe continued to push forward and four minutes later took the lead through the most unfortunate of own goals from Scarborough left-back, Michael Price.

He tried to volley clear a Gary Thompson flick-on, but only managed to place the ball past his own keeper into the bottom right-hand corner of the goal.

Tempers then flared in midfield when Lee Collins tangled with Gareth Stoker and the Morecambe player received a red card for lashing out at his Scarborough rival.

Stoker looked set to join him, but somehow escaped with only a yellow. In the melee that followed, Morecambe's Lee Elam was also booked but he came back with a vengeance to add a third goal for Morecambe after some woeful defending from the visitors.

Paul Shepherd and David Ridler hesitated on the edge of the box, waiting for keeper Woods to gather but while they stood still, Elam nipped in to poke home the loose ball.

Scarborough came back with a shot from Scott Kerr hitting the Morecambe post before home keeper Craig Mawson saved superbly from Shepherd.

But there was no way back for Scarborough who saw their recent revival come to an end against a side who have now lost just one of their 20 home league games this season.
