Morecambe maintained their excellent home form with a convincing victory over bottom club Northwich Victoria.
All the goals came in an excellent first half with Shrimps top scorer Danny Carlton scoring twice with a goal from Gary Thompson sandwiched in between.
Morecambe, last season's Conference runners-up, always looked the sharper side and produced several half-chances in the opening quarter.
Skipper Stewart Drummond, Dean Howell and Terry McFlynn all produced efforts on goal which were comfortably held by Vics keeper Andy Woods.
He was powerless to stop Morecambe going ahead however, from a superb move on 28 minutes.
Drummond provided the spark with a powerful 70-yard run which saw him collect the ball from the edge of his own penalty area and brush past a number of challenges before feeding Carlton. He showed great strength to place the ball into the bottom right-hand corner.
The home team almost added a second four minutes later when a Thompson free-kick from the edge of the area forced Woods into an excellent save low to his right.
It wasn't long before Morecambe extended their advantage however.
On 37 minutes, Chris Blackburn lost possession on the halfway line and Morecambe had a man advantage which they used to lethal effect. Thompson was allowed to run on goal and after pulling the ball onto his left foot, curled a sweet effort past Woods' right hand.
Five minutes later, Morecambe made it 3-0 from the penalty spot. Blackburn was adjudged to have pushed Thompson in the box and Carlton stroked home the spot kick with supreme confidence.
After a flurry of activity in the first half, the second period was a much more sedate affair.
The visitors sub, Chris Thompson, gave his side a spark they had so badly lacked in the first half and on 48 minutes he produced a shot that was well gathered by Craig Mawson.
A minute later, Thompson produced a fine cross which was just inches away from Colin Potts at the far post.
Northwich then produced their best chance of the game on the hour mark when Shaun Came nipped in front of his marker to get on the end of a Potts cross to force a fine save from Mawson.
From there, chances were at a premium, although Morecambe did produce a number of long-range efforts with Nick Rogan and Michael Stringfellow going close to adding to the scoreline.
