Morecambe's hopes of making it three wins from three were dashed by a resolute Farnborough Town.
After two wins in a week, hopes were high of another maximum return, but the Shrimps failed to shine against a side who defended resolutely and caused a number of threats on the break.
The first half was basically a non-event. Farnbrough piled bodies behind the ball and the Shrimps could not break them down. There were half chances for Kieron Walmsley and Danny Carlton who both shot wide before Michael Twiss began to come into the game and cause problems.
Twiss brought the game to life on the stroke of half- time when he got the final touch to a dangerous David Perkins cross into the area.
That should have been the platform for the Shrimps to build on, but it didn't turn out that way as Farnborough fought back well in the second half.
New signing Stephen Hughes was just inches away from connecting with Robert Hughes's left-wing cross, but the same player went one better seconds later when he latched on to the loose ball 12 yards out to fire a shot which powered past Adam Sollitt.
Morecambe bounced back with Chris Blackburn heading over from a good Walmsley free-kick and Wayne Curtis shooting inches wide from the edge of the area after a neat flick-on from the increasingly influential Twiss.
The Shrimps should have made it 2-1 after 73 minutes when Garry Thompson's cross was deflected into Lee Dodgson's path, but the youngster could only volley over the bar from six yards out.
Terry McFlynn and Thompson then both saw long-range efforts clear the bar before Farnborough almost recorded a shock injury-time winner when Lee Riddell saw a well-struck effort saved by Sollitt at full stretch.
