Tamworth came to Christie Park with the intention of recording a second successive 0-0 draw in the north-west - and that's just what they achieved.
It wasn't pretty - in fact it was pure ugly - but Lambs boss Mark Cooper was delighted with the result, and the performance of a young side that showed great spirit and tenacity throughout.
For Morecambe, it was a hugely frustrating evening. Sammy McIlroy's men probably had 90 per cent of the possession but could not break down a stubborn, packed, Tamworth defence who gave their all.
It actually took Morecambe 70 minutes to get a shot in on goal and that was from midfielder Craig Stanley whose 20-yard volley was well-saved by visiting keeper Sean Bowles who reacted well to dive sharply to his left and divert the ball for a corner.
Apart from a few dangerous crosses during the 90 minutes Bowles had little to do which spoke volumes about the players in front of him.
It was the third time in four games that Tamworth had held Morecambe to a 0-0 draw and the Shrimps' supporters will not be rushing out of their houses next year to see the Lambs when they come to town.
Tamworth had a clear game-plan - and it worked a treat for them. They defended superbly throughout with the midfield, led by the excellent Adie Smith, closing down for 90 minutes and the defence throwing themselves at everything to protect their goal.
Bradley Thomas and Simon Weaver were strong in the centre while Tom Kemp looks a useful prospect for a teenager.
A hugely uneventful first half saw no clear chances. A first minute Danny Carlton cross was well-cleared and an 18th minute Adam Yates cross from the right was just too far ahead of the onrushing Danny Carlton before Michael Twiss, given no space all evening, blasted a 25-yarder well wide of the right-hand post.
Tamworth's only effort of the first period came from a long-range Kyle Storer effort that cleared the crossbar by a wide margin.
The second period at least gave the Morecambe fans something to shout about as Twiss let fly with another long-range effort that went over the bar before Carlton came close to opening the scoring with a header from another dangerous Yates cross that whistled just wide of the left-hand upright on 52 minutes.
As Morecambe enjoyed their best period of the game they came close again three minutes later. Carlton was the provider this time with another excellent cross into the penalty area for Twiss who headed inches over.
The Shrimps continued to push forward with Thompson finally beginning to threaten down the right and Matty Shaw making some good runs down the left on his debut for the club.
A David Perkins cross was again just too high for Carlton who found a rare bit of space in the area before the Shrimps came close to stealing a late winner.
A Twiss corner rifled across the Tamworth goal-line and Shaw looked set to mark his first start with a dream goal but somehow failed to get the decisive touch at the far post.
It proved to be one of those nights for the Shrimps who have now won just one of their five home games to date after being so strong at Christie Park in recent years.
Tamworth may not win friends with their approach but they won the point they badly wanted.
