Scarborough shocked their seaside rivals with an excellent victory at Christie Park.
The Seadogs' recent revival under Neil Redfearn continued with a well deserved win over Morecambe.
It was new striker David McNiven who gave the visitors the lead on 18 minutes with his third goal in three games for his new club.
The former Queen of the South man linked well with fellow newcomer David Pounder to create the opening which he took superbly with the most clinical of finishes from the right-hand side of the area.
Nine minutes later it was 2-0. The Morecambe defence failed to clear the danger on the right-hand side and Tony Hackworth took full advantage with a dangerous cross into the box which was turned in by Chris Hughes.
Morecambe, with just one home defeat all season before the game, showed little in the first half after Danny Carlton's early volley fell straight into the hands of Leigh Walker on three minutes.
The second half saw the Shrimps finally spring to life as they looked to get back into the game.
Chris Blackburn and Michael Twiss both tested Walker who made good saves in quick succession and Darran Kempson saw a header cleared off the line by Steve Baker.
But Scarborough defended well as a unit and went on to add a third three minutes form time.
Lee Fowler tried his luck from 30 yards with a free-kick which somehow squirmed through Steven Drench's grasp.
