Classy midfield Dave Rainford was the man who kept Dagenham among the front runners at the top of the Conference.
He capped a classy all round performance off with a brace which keeps the East Londoners second in the table and confirms them as serious contenders in the race for the Football League.
Dagenham started slowly and could have conceded an early goal when Jake Leberl miscued his clearance from under his own goal from a low cross by Adam Yates.
That early scare seemed to wake up the home side and they soon took control of the game when Cliff Akurang should have done better with his shot after 10 minutes when he easily won the ball following confusion in the Morecambe defence.
More confusion between Yates and Ged Brannan led to a needless Dagenham corner. Sam Saunders corner was met by a tame punch by keeper Steven Drench and Dave Rainford was on hand to head the ball into the roof of the net.
Morecambe responded well and should have been back on level terms a minute later when Garry Thompson and Wayne Curtis exchanged passes on the edge of the Dagenham box, but Curtis's shots from 10 yards was straight at keeper Tony Roberts.
Morecambe were now playing the better football and top scorer Michael Twiss began to cause problems in the air.
After 21 minutes, fullback David Perkins sent Curtis through again, this time he drove the ball across the box but Scott Griffiths was there to help out his keeper to clear the ball away from the onrushing Thompson
Dagenham came back into the game when Paul Benson thought he'd scored his eighth goal of the season when he expertly lobbed keeper Drench from just inside the box. His celebration was short lived as the linesman ruled it out for offside.
With Dagenham looking to see out the final moments of the first half, a Twiss corner was met on the near post by Danny Carlton, who stole a march on his marker to head his second goal of the season and bring his side back on level terms.
Dagenham started the second half the better side with the classy Rainford and Akurang taking control of the midfield and Benson and Craig Mackail-Smith running at the heart of the Morecambe defence.
After 51 minutes the home side took control of the game when another corner which the visitors were unable to deal with from Sam Sloma was flicked on by Benson, ricocheted off Twiss and Rainford was there to force the ball home from close range for his third goal of the season.
But Morecambe came back again and should have equalised when Brannan's free kick was met on the back post by the unmarked Blackburn who volleyed over from five yards out.
Dagenham then had two golden chances to wrap up the game. After 57 minutes Mackail-Smith was sent clean through on goal after yet more good play from Benson, but the striker fluffed his lines once more in front of goal.
Then after 64 minutes Benson harried Blackburn into a short header back to his keeper which was intercepted by Benson who rounded the keeper. But credit to Blackburn, who made amends to deny the striker with a goal-line clearance.
Thompson tried to drag his side back into the game with a long range drive from 25 yards, but it was easily smothered by keeper Roberts.
Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy will be disappointed with his side's lack of cutting edge in the second half with too many good situations petering out on the edge of the area.
Dagenham manager John Still may be a little concerned about the host of chances his side created but failed to convert. Mackail-Smith being the biggest culprit.
