Defender Holdsworth arrived on a free following his release from Oldham last week, while midfielder Hurst has signed on loan from Carlisle.
Boss Sammy McIlroy said: "Both players have a lot of Football League experience and will certainly strengthen our squad for the second half of the season."
The duo will go into the squad to face John Coleman's men but defender Will Haining has joined Fleetwood on loan.
McIlroy is boosted by the return of striker Jimmy Spencer after a three-match suspension but defender Paul Scott remains absent as he recovers from a knee operation.
Midfielder Garry Hunter may also miss out with a knee injury.
